ABSTRACT

OntheInformationStructureandItsLinguisticRealizationinLegalDiscourse:

AChinese-EnglishContrastiveDiscourseAnalysisiswrittenbyProf.ZhaoJunfeng,

whichisagoodinterdisciplinaryworkcombininglegallinguistics,discourseanalysis,

contrastivelinguisticsandtranslationstudies.BycomparingChineseandEnglish

texts,Zhaoexploredtheinformationstructureoflegaltextsandtherulesoftheir

linguisticrealization,builta“four-bridge”model,andalsoconductedresearches

basedonCLIPS.Theresultsandconclusionsofthebookprovideimportant

referencesforthedraftingandrevisionoflegislativedocuments,courtdebateand

languageapplication,andprovideimperativereferencesvalueforlegaltranslation

practicesandlegaltranslationqualityassessments.

Inthisreport,thethirdchapterofthismonographwithrespecttosocialand

culturalsystemisselectedfordiscussion.Thischaptermainlydiscussesthewaysin

whichinformationinlegaltextsflowsandconfiguresintheprocessofChinese-

Englishcommunicationfrombothqualitativeandquantitativeaspects.Legalcross-

culturalcommunicationreferstotheinformationtransfersbetweendifferentlegal

systemsandlegalcultures.Therearedifferencesinideology,religiousbeliefand

powerrelationsbetweenthecivillawsystemandthecommonlawsystem,andthe

differencesinsocialandculturalsystemshaveanimportantimpactonlegal

translation.Therefore,thetranslationofthischapterhasaprofoundimpacton

understandingthedifferencesofsocialandculturalsystemsandconductingcross-

culturallegalcommunication.
