Thematiccontext:Thethematiccontextofthisunitis“ManandNature”.ThecontentsrangefromthedifficultsurvivalsituationinAntarctic,thesurvivalofwildanimalsincities,Robinson’ssurvivalstoryinadesertedisland,tothehumanexplorationofMarsasanalternativeplaceofsurvival.Thesetopicscantriggerstudentstothinkaboutthesurvivalofhumaninthenaturalenvironment.Ontheonehand,thisunitaimstostrengthenstudents’awarenessoftheenvironmentandwildlifeprotectionandleadintheconceptoflivinginharmonywithnature.Ontheotherhand,itencouragesstudentstolearnhowtoadapttothechangingenvironment,cultivatethespiritofexploration,andestablishacorrectoutlookonlifeandtheworld.
