BackgroundThisisatruestory.IttookplaceinAmsterdam,Hollandintheearly1940saftertheGermanNazishadoccupiedmostofEurope.TheNaziPartyruledGermanyfrom1933to1945.OneoftheirkeypolicieswastokillalltheJewsinEurope.IfanypersonsknowntobeJewswerefound,theywouldbesenttoconcentrationcamps(集中营),mostlyinPoland.Toavoidthisterriblefate,someJewishfamilieswentintohiding,oftenwiththehelpofnon-Jewishfriends.ThisdiarywaswrittenduringthetimewhenAnneandherfamilymovedtoescapefrombeingkilledbyNazis.
