    measureoffirm-levelexposurederivedfromearningscalltranscripts.Combiningthis

    measurewithfinancialstatementdataforover6,500firmsacross50countries,weshow

    thatexposuretotheconflictledtosizableandpersistentdeclinesincorporateinvestment.

    Firmsthatdiscussedthewarinearly2022investedsignificantlylessthanotherwise

    similarfirms.Theresultsholdacrossmultipleempiricalstrategiesandhighlighttherole

    ofgeopoliticalriskinshapingfirmbehaviorduringglobalcrises.
