The main reasons for using subcontractors in this industry are the needs for a highly flexible work force and for specialized expertise. Moreover, due to high instability and insecurity in the subcontracting jobs, and strong demand for flexible staffing, these subcontractors use large amount of temporary workers. We find that 78% of the subcontractors use temporary workers and in average, the number of temporary workers is 1.2 times as many as that of regular workers.
