The contents of this course provide a broad introduction to the field of transport geography as a social science profession. Basic ideas in sustainable development will be related to the provision infrastructure and services of transport and logistics at various geographical scales, from local to global. The course will provide students with a foundation for more advanced treatments of the subject. Parts of the course contents can also be used for classes in economic and urban geography as well as in related disciplines. (2) Learning Objectives The course is designed to introduce you to the study of transportation systems from a geographic perspective. It is intended for both the student who is considering planning as a major field of study in the future and the student with primary interest in a related field that requires working knowledge of transport and logistics. Two major objectives of this course are to introduce basic concepts and methods for transportation analysis; and to explore the complex relationship between transport and development from a spatial perspective. (3) Expected Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to understand basic ideas of sustainable development in relation to transport development and planning; grasp concepts and use basic research tools to analyze transport problems in a geographic context; identify important transport issues/problems at different geographical scales and develop a perspectiv
