For high school students, English reading is listed as the most important skill among the five skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation.English Reading comprehension is composed of two aspects, reading and comprehension. Reading is an active and positive process, which requires the reader to search for the useful information that the reader needs. Comprehension is the process that the reader deals with the information that he gains from the reading material. Thus, English reading comprehension is a very complicated process and it can be affected by many factors, such as the reader’s cultural background knowledge, the reader’s reading habits, the reader’s vocabulary and so forth.?This paper aims to explore possible ways of improving English reading comprehension of high school students. It first discusses the main purposes and factors of influencing English reading comprehension of high school students, and then it explores some ways to improve English reading comprehension of high school students.?Ⅱ.
