Domestic foreign language translation of the academic stage of the undergraduate curriculum have been discussed a lot. However, articles about the translation of foreign language teaching teacher training institutions are rarely seen. In this paper, the author does some initial demonstration to the professional status and problems of written translation teaching in Chongqing Normal Universities, and tries to put forward some countermeasures, for the purpose of promoting the general translation teaching reforms, and thereby enhancing the level of translation of the students. By way of a questionnaire survey, the author understands the status of translation teaching of the four general normal universities in Chongqing, identifies the current problems in translation teaching in Chongqing normal universities.A. The Necessity and Importance of Written Translation Teaching?Translation course is one of the courses concerned with the English basic skills which are set up for the third-year English majors. Through teaching the students the basic theory of translation, informing the characteristics of language style, introducing the characteristics of Chinese and English, and the ways of translating different styles of articles, the teachers can make their students master the basic theory of English-Chinese bilingual translation, gain the skills of translation of the English word, long sentence and a variety of literary forms, possess the ability of Chinese-English mutual translation, and further understand the characteristics of the two languages of English and Chinese, as well as cultural differences in both languages.The course emphasizes on the relationship between the foundation and improvement, try to link up undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses, and to facilitate post-graduate students to engage in translation work or further studies.?However,
