One kind of the language not having the color words completely in the world has not been discovered. Therefore, colors are closely related to our daily life. Color is not national boundaries.?“Color is one kind of objective reality, its essence is same for every nation but every nation’s known for color is different especially metaphor and association meaning.”1 Words are one of the most active elements in a language. Color words connotative meanings can be very different from culture to culture due to different historical background, geography, custom and tradition. In a way, the meanings of color words can reflect certain aspects of a culture. Both accurate interpretation and expression of color words depend on the profound understanding of a culture. Therefore, translators have to be aware of the cultural differences in both languages. With the uninterrupted development of human being culture, the color vocabulary becomes more and more enlarged. And color words make the human being’s language become especially vivid, colorful and various. Therefore, we must know more about English-Chinese culture and explore the associated meaning of the color words in order to improve the translation of color words.II.
