If one manages it to design a building in a way as it makes best use of the advantages of the local climate and avoid or prevent most of the disadvantages, then one has a best design for low energy consumption. Such a building we call a climate adapted building. In other words, this means to design a building such, that itself already, without the use of heating and/or cooling maintains an indoor temperature which remains within the comfort range, at least most of the time. The temperature of the building itself under the influence of the climate alone is called the free-run-temperature or natural temperature. The more time of the year it remains within the t comfort range, the less energy the building needs. This principle is applicable everywhere on the world e 网 and always leads to a design of lowest possible energy and power need. It shows also clearly the role of n any heating and cooling equipment: such equipment has to correct the free-run-temperature to arrive within the comfort limits.
