A b stract: The L egend abou t Yu had been accep ted a s a h istorical fact for a long tim e. A t the beginn ing
of la st cen tu ry, the re searchers of “the Schoo l of Iden tifying A ncien t H istory ”began to su sp ect the existence of
Yu. From the literatu re wh ich wa s found in recen t years, Yu had been a vague halfgod in the m emory of p eo
p le before Qunchu i p eriod. A nd he ha s been tran sform ed to be a real talen ted monarch in the Confucian ism
discou rse system. B y the m ethod of genealogy from the theory of Foucau lt, we can analysis the evo lu tion of the
legend abou t Yu. A nd we can get the p roce ss of the change of legend abou t Yu and the mode of op eration of
the “h istoryknow ledge ”discou rse in the Confucian ism discou rse system.
