后记……………………………………………………………… 第89 页 ABSTRACT New Trend Union was a major student group of Beijing University during the May 4th Movement, and 《THE RENAISSANCE》was a issue established by it. It lasted nearly four years from its beginning on January,1919 to its ending on March,1922. New Trend Union continued to publish 《New Trend Series》and 《New Trend Literature and Art Series 》 after 《THE RENAISSANCE》was stopped publication, and New Trend Union ended its all tasks in 1925. This was just the period when the New Culture Movement sprang up and declined, all kinds of western social ideologies came swarming, social change was radical in China. The members of New Trend Union took part in the New Culture Movement, some of them became the main forces of “the May 4th Movement ”,and latter they either studied in Europe and America to research into western social ideological trends and modern science or practised and researched in China, they played an important role in following China’s social life. 《THE RENAISSANCE》was successor and sister issue of 《New Youth》. As the students of 《New Youth》,the members of New Trend Union had some relations with the teachers. So taking New Trend Union as the core and 《THE RENAISSANCE》as the original, it is a meaningful angle to study all social ideological trends during May 4th Movement and analyse the roles that the links between “students ”and “teachers ”played during 4 the New Culture Movement.
