Vo1．85No．4PP．801—813 ACTA GEOLOGICA SINICA (EnglishEdition) Aug．2011 GeochronologyandGeochemistryoftheRadiolarianChertsofthe M ada’erArea，SouthwesternTianshan：ImplicationsforDepositional Environment KANGJianli一，ZHANG Zhaochong，，ZHANG Dongyang，HUANGHe， DONG Shuyun andZHANG Su 1StateKeyLaboratoryofGeologicalProcessesandMineralResources，ChinaUniversityofGeosciences, Beijing100083，China 2TianjinInstituteofGeologyandMineralResources,Tianjin300170,China Abstract：In the southwestern Tianshan，thegeologic agesofmany strata and theirdepositional environmentsarestillpoorlyconstrainedbecauseofcomplexstructures．TheM ada’erareaislocated intheKuokesalelingbelt．SouthwesternTianshan．Thechertsfrom theformerW upata’erkanGroup containabundantradiolarianfossils，including10specieswhichareidentifiedaslateDevoniantoearly Carboniferousinage．Elevenchert sampleshaveSiO2contentsrangingrfom 88．80wt％ to93．28wt％， and2．02wt％ to3．72wt％ forAl203．TheSiO2／AI2O3ratiosofallsamplesvaryrfom 23．84to46．11， muchlowerthanthoseofthepurechertsf80-1400)．Thesevaluessuggestthatthechertscontainhigh ratiosofterrigenousmaterials．TheA12O3／(AIzO3+Fe203)ratiosvarybetween0．64and0．77．whereasV andCuc0ncentrati0nsrangerfom 10．92ppm to26．7ppm andrfom 2．15ppm to34．1ppm respectively． TheTi／V ratiosvaryfrom 25．53to44．93．ThetotalRIEE concentrationsofthechertsarebetween30．78 ppmand59．26ppm，averaging45．46ppm．The(La，Ce)Nratiosrangerfom0．81to1．12，and0．88-1．33 for(La／Yb)N，averaging1．09，whichsuggestsacontinentalmarginenvironment．Consequently，itis infefred thatthe chertsformed in a residualseaenvironmentduring thelateDevonian to early Carboniferoustime．whichsuggeststhatthecollisionbetweentheKarakum ．Tarim andKazakhstan． Junggarplatesdidnotoccura
