Abstract
TheapplicationofTiAlbasedalloysislimitedbecauseofitspoor
plasticity.Muchworkhasbeendoneonimprovingitsworkabilityandgreat
achievementshavebeenmade.Buttherehavebeennotmuchworkdealing
withthehightemperaturedeformationbehaviorincompressiontestsandthe
microstructuralchangesduringthedeformation.
AduplexTiAlbasedalloyandafulllamellarTiAlbasedalloywithrare
earthweredeformedathightemperaturesinthispaper.Themicrostructural
evolutionduringthedeformationofthealloyswasobservedunderOM
(opticalmicroscopy),SEM (scanningelectronmicroscopy)andTEM
(transmissionelectronmicroscopy)andthedeformationmechanismswere
discussed.
ThestudyonduplexTi-47A1-1Cr-1V-1.5Mo-1.5Nb(at%)alloyshows
thatthemaximumstrainis1.2whendeformedat9000Cand5X10-0s,which
indicatesthisalloyhasgoodplasticityunderthisdeformingcondition.
Duringthehightemperaturedeformation,severalmechanismscoexisted
Thenewgrainswerefoundinsideygrains,atygrainboundaries,atcolony
boundariesandinsidethelamellarstructure.Recrystallizationcouldrefine
grains,releasethestressconcentration,andmadethefurtherdeformation
possible.Duringthedeformation,multi-mechanismworkedtogetherand
madethedeformationprogress.
ItisfoundthatthecolonieswererefinedaftertherareearthGdwas
