Aluminum sol possesses some characteristic, such as stickiness, sorption, and stability and so on. When they are mixed together, their excellent performances are exhibited. There are many useful applications in the new chemical system for them. In this paper, the preparation of aluminum sol with high concentration, advancing transparent coating and Si/Al anti-wear compound coating are studied. The primary contents are as follows: (1) Aluminum sol with high concentration was prepared by the hydrolysis of anhydrous aluminum chloride in the alcohol system. The products were characterized by the titration for concentration, FT-IR spectra, Zeta potential and size mensuration, respectively. The results showed that the concentration of the aluminum sol obtained is more than 13% (only about 5% in industry) and the sol was stable for more than half a month at room temperature. The main component of the sol was alumina colloid, and its conjoint bound was Al-O. The Zeta potential and stability of the sol was influenced by its acidity, and the size of the colloidal particles was affected by the amount of water added. Finally, the surface of the sol film was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The result indicated that the surface of the film was smooth, without obvious cracks. This suggested th
