内容提要 目前,我国外语教材的编写还是个较薄弱环节,而对现有的外语教材进行 科学的评估,无疑对有效地使用教材,今后教材的编写,以及整个教学过程有 着积极的指导意义。 本文共分三章,从外语学习的理论基础入手,重点介绍一份有代表性的外 语教材评估标准,并将这一标准应用于实践,对现阶段大多数高等院校英语专 业广泛采用的两套听力教材进行了较详尽的分析和评估。 Abstract Compilation of foreign language teaching materials in our country is still a weak link at present. To make a scientific evaluation of the foreign language teaching materials available is undoubtedly of an active direction to the effective use of these materials, the compilation of teaching materials in the future, and even to the whole teaching process. This paper is divided into three chapters. It takes the theoretical basis of foreign language learning as the point of departure, puts the stress on introducing a set of representative evaluation criteria for foreign language teaching materials, and then applies these criteria to practice: it gives a detailed analysis and evaluation on two sets of specialized listening course materials which are widely adopted by English department in most of Chinese colleges and universities. Introduction There is a long-standing tendency that aural comprehension is neglected at the higher stage in English specialty. Listening course in most universities and colleges is brought to an end as early as the stage of grade two. Yet, to stop training aural comprehension too early will certainly make the students’ development in listening ability at a discount and will even bring about the phenomenon of getting rusty. This tendency is not only caused by subjective underestimate, the deficiency of proper course materials is another reason. For over ten years, the course material Step by Step, published by Hua-dong Normal University Press, has been the first choice of most universities and colleges. Step by Step is well-planned and with a good number of listening materials of various subjects, different styles, and complete forms. But Step by Step is only designed for the students of grade one and two, so it can not meet the needs of students in grade thre
