Understanding this novel can help us to research African-American’s culture and history. Through flexible use of rhetorical tactics, the novel gives readers a broad space of understanding and abundant aesthetic enjoyment. This article tries to analyze this novel from rhetoric perspective. Through symbol, comparison and irony, these three rhetorical tactics’ analysis, we try to help readers have a better understanding of the novel, understanding the traditional black culture and history, grasp the theme that the writer wants to tell us: inheritance of the national traditional culture, we should focus on understanding of it’s connotation, put it into everyday life, rather than formalized consecrate. KEY WORDS: Everyday Use, symbol, contrast, irony 摘 要 小说《日用家当》是一篇优秀的反映主流文化影响中的传统非洲文化的生存状况的作品。通过修辞手法的灵活运用，赋予了读者更宽广的解读空间和更丰富的审美享受。本文从入手，对《日用家当》一文进行解析。通过对三种修辞手法的分析，帮助读者更好的理解这篇小说，把握主旨：民族传统文化的继承在于深刻地认识和理解其文化内涵，把传统融入日常生活，而不是浮于表面、流于形式的供奉。 OUTLINE Introduction This article tries to analyze three rhetorical skills: symbolism, contrast and irony, which is rather representative in the novel. Through these analysises, the reader can better understand the three characters’ personalities, behavior and grasp the thought of the writer in-depth, and appreciate the novel comprehensively. Ⅰ.
