Forestry College, Northwest A F University , Yangling Shaanxi　712100, China) Abstract:The resultsof the treatments on seedlings with the chromatography extractsfrom the green husk of walnutsshowed that :①whenthe extractsfrom green huskof walnuts by alcohol isextracted by ethyl acetate, and then extractsfrom ethyl acetate is treated by silicon chromatography, 6 compo- nents are obtained, and component Fr2 has the strongest inhibition on the growth of young roots and budsand the inhibiting rates on the plants tested are higher than 50%. ②when the Fr2is separated by silicon chromatography for a second time, another 6 components are obtained and the component 2Fr2has the highest inhibition on the growth of young roots and buds, with the half inhibiting con- centrationsfor ryegrass, clover and sorghum being only 1.30 mg/ mL, 1.56 mg/ mL and 1.266 mg/ mL respectively . ③The inhibition of allelochemical (active substance)in the separated extracts by chromatography is larger on the growth of roots than on that of buds.
