M ethods Tw enty m ale SD rats ( 150 g # 10 g), w ere used to estab lish critical cran ial defect ( 10 mm in diam eter) m odel. The an mi als w ere random ly di ided into con trol and expermi ent groups ( 10 in each). In the control group, 40 mg of polylactic acid w ere mi planted into the defect area; whereas in the expermi en t group, smi astatinpolylactic acid com pound w ere used ( 20 m g smi astatin and 40 m g polylactic acid). Four and eight w eeks after the mi plantation, the defect area of the rats w as obser ed by Xray and tolu idine blue stain ing. R esults E ight w eeks after the operation, Xray exam ination show ed h ighdensity regions in the defect area in the expermi ent group, wh ile lowdensity regions in the control group.
