As a pioneer in wind power development, Germany has an ambitious plan for its offshore wind deployment. Based on the situation of the offshore wind parks newly put into operation in Germany, this paper presents a detailed introduction to the footprints of the German offshore wind power development, together with the challenges that it faces, as well as an in-depth analysis on the related supportive policies, development planning and interconnection with power grids in Germany. It also points out the implications that Germany ’s experience in offshore wind power development can have on China.
