Warm-up Ask the Ss to give a free talk. ⅡReview Talk to ss with “can”. Ⅲ.Teaching procedure Revise the key wocabulary about leisure activities and introduce搑ow a boat”,搑ide a bicycle ”,and “fly a kite”. Ask ss to write a list of the different activities offered at local summer camps .And then indicate whether they like/dislike or have done o/have not done the activities. Use a grid to show their responses .3.ss have already leared the use of ‘can’ and ‘may’ in making polite requests (Book 7a Unit2) And introduce the idea here ,the word ‘can’ is used to express ability. 4.Ask ss to identify activities that they can do well. Write ss’ statement on the blackboard, first write ‘I can’ on the board. 5.Ask ss to say the things they can do.and sort them into categories: Sports/ leisure/ school subject 6Go through the tables on the top of p78 and explain the use of ‘can’and’could’and their negative forms.. Ask ss work out the rules on their own. Complete the sentences with “can/cannot/could/couldn’t” 7.Tell ss we also can use ‘can/could’ to talk about possibilities.
