A DEVELOPMENT OF PANTOGRAPH TEST FACILITY Kiwon LEE, Yong Hyeon CHO, Sam-Young KWON, Young PARK, Hyun-Jun PARK #360-1, Woulam-Dong, Uiwang-City, Kyonggi-Do Republic of Korea kenlee@krri.re.kr KEYWORDS: Pantograph, Test Facility ABSTRACT This study presents a development of pantograph test facility which is the tester to verify performance, endurance of suspension and dynamic characteristics of pantograph. The test facility consists of performance, endurance and dynamic pantograph testers. With these testers, all kinds of pantograph, such as cross arm type or single arm type, can be evaluated. Using the performance tester, measurement of nominal static force, checking of the operating system, transverse rigidity test, air tightness test, functional check of ADD (Automatic dropping device) and etc. can be examined. With the dynamic tester, the dynamic behavior of pantograph according to the exciting frequency can be tested. Endurance behavior for pan-head spring and continuous upward and downward movements can be evaluated using the endurance tester. INTRODUCTION In the past couple of years, electric railways have great progressed in terms of running speeds both in commercial operations and in high-speed test trials. The overhead contact line and pantograph have also developed for better current collection quality in various countries. The overhead contact line system supplies electrical energy for a train through the contact with pantograph. Therefore, the interaction between them determines the quality and reliability of the energy supply. In parallel to the theoretical study of interaction between pantographs and overhead contact lines, measurement techniques have been developed for assessing the quality of current collection quality.
