Ab stract! O bjective To investigate the distribution and ultrasonic appear
ance in the patientsw ith sialolithiasis. M ethod s Thirtythree patients w ith subm an
dibular gland duct partition w ere determ ined w ith the location of stones and glands of
ultrasonic appearance by color doppler ultrasound before surgery. The results w ere
compared w ith surgical and endoscopic approach. R esults The detection of stone of
the anterior segm entw as12 cases, stone of the posterior segm entw as 1 cases, stone
of the branch w as 2 cases in submandibular gland duct. The results of ultrasonography
were consistentw ith those after removing calculus. Conclusion The submandibular
gland duct stones often were found in the posterior segm ent in catheter and rarely ob
served in the branch. The ultrasonograph w as of higher application value in diagnosis
of subm andibular gland diseases, which was one of themost mi portant causes of identi
fication for stone location, number, degrees of subm andibular gland duct dilatation and
status of inflamm ation of submandibular gland. The ultrasonography could provide an
mi portant basis for diagnosis and treatment of sialolithiasis.
