By following Hoggart and Williamscultural materialism and by introducing some key words of Cultural Studies such as dis- course, power, subject, and difference, Hall defines culture as representation and signifying practices. Actually, Halls answer to the definition of culture is very different from others, and has constructed the theoretical basis of Cultural Studies.
