Meth- ods Seventy - nine normal in ants born in F ang Zhuang Community rom July 1997 to Jan . 1998 w ere set as t he early education g roup . Eighty- six healt hy in ants w ith conv entional care w ho w er e bor n in the same community rom Jan. 1996 to M ay 1997 w ere set as the control group. Par ents w er e taug ht to carry out the early educational progr am beginning rom the new born period , w hich included moto r, cognitive, speech development and so cial behav ior. At the age o one and a hal , all in ants in t he tw o gr oups re- ceived in ant development tests o Child Development Center o China ( CDCC) . Results T her e w er e no signi icant di erence in physical development , and cultural and social actors betw een the tw o groups. Intellig ence tests at the age o one and a hal show ed t hat the average mental development index ( M DI) and psychomotor mental development index ( PDI) in the early educational g roup w ere 19 . 6 and 10 . 1 hig her than those in the control group respectively. T here w ere 31 in ants ( 39 . 2% ) w ith M DI 130 ( superex- cellent) in the early educational g roup w hile ther e w ere only 5 superexcellent in ants ( 5 . 8% ) in the control gr oup.
