College of Land Management,Huazhong Agricultural University,Wuhan 430070, China) Abstract: Methods of documentation, induction and comparative analysis were employed to analyze the development trend,theories and ways, content and system of the research on economic compensation of cultivated land protection.The results showed that:First,the study content on eco nomic compensation of cultivated land protection at abroad was included in the study of agricultural subsidies, especially ecological agriculture subsi dies and agriculture and environmental programs.The study content in China focused on the connotation and measurement ways of cultivated land val ue and land requisition compensation.Second, internal compensation and interregional compensation, ecological benefit compensation and social benefit compensation could not be integrated a system in existing research results.Third, the related theories could not be integrated, and the externalities could not be measured reasonably based on the analysis of donator and acceptor.The scholars in China should adequate attention to the study results and problems, and constructed a realistic and feasible economic compensation of cultivated land protection.
