Earth Science Fr ontiers , 20 0, 7( 6) :00 0 2 Abstract: Numerical simulation is an important tool to analyze complicated groundwater problems. This art icle summarizes the advances in groundwat er research on five aspect s, including groundwater simulation methodol ogy, w or ing procedure in doing groundw ater simulation, parametric inversion in simulat ion, groundw ater simulation model and softw are platform and t heir current applications in China. At the end of the article, a short discussion of advance of groundwater numerical simulation in the future is made, which is about facilita tion to groundw ater research by contemporary information technology , more complicat ed rules and law s to be found and simulated in later groundw ater research, and the synthesis integrat ion and cooperative research of groundw ater w ith other disciplines. T he aim of the article is to offer some references to groundwater research ers.
