Its variation regularity accord with existing potential logging theory: exponential relationship is existed between potential and electrode spacing, and exponent less than 1. Further theoretical analysis of the variation regularity found that conductive surface area of different potentiometric surfaces presented nonlinear variation accord with fractal regulations. The reason of apparent resistivity existing regular changes is caused by the electric field penetrating through strata and resulted in nonlinear variation.
