Unit 2 Healthy Eating
Material analysis:
“Healthy Eating” is the topic of this unit, the main purpose of this unit is to develop students’ sense to form a healthy eating habit. The reading passage Come and Eat Here (1) introduces students to two unbalanced diets through the restaurants of Wang Peng and Yong Hui. Food at Wang Peng’s restaurant contains too much fat while Yong Hui’s restaurant offers little energy-giving food. So it is important for students to know about the two extremes and avoid them.
Teaching aims:
Knowledge aims:
1. To get students read the text and tain students’ reading ability.
2. To let students learn the knowledge of balanced diet and nutrition.
Ability aims:
1. To develop students’ reading ability and let them learn different reading skills.
2. To enable students to talk about different kinds of food, problems with diet and balanced diet.
Emotional aims:
1. To stimulate students’ sense to form a healthy eating habit.
2. To develop students’ sense of cooperative learning.
Teaching important points:
1. To let students learn more about problems with a diet, a balanced diet and nutrition.
2. To get students to learn different reading skills.
Teaching difficult points:
1. To help students improve their reading skills and understand the passage fully.
2. To enable students to talk about different kinds of food and balanced diet.

Step 1 Pre-reading (8 minutes)
Task 1 Give the students some words of food and let the students divide these words into three groups. Group 1, energy-giving food. (food that gives us energy) group 2, body-building food. (food that helps us grow bones and muscles) group 3, protective food. (food that mainly gives us fibre for digestion and health) (group work )
