Chapter 4 Logistics Segment or Warehouse Operation Receiing Actiity and Concepts with a WMS Program Introduction Receiving functions and dock areas are as important as storage and pick function areas. The receiving dock is where everything in a warehouse starts. A warehouse receives and unloads SKUs from vendor delivery trucks, ocean-going containers, or rail cars. At a receiving operation, a vendor delivery vehicle is unloaded and received at the truck receiving dock; a rail car is unloaded at the rail car receiving area.
