A b str a c t
L isten ing, sp eak ing, read ing an d w riting are the four b asic sk ills o f langu age.
R ead ing, as an im portant com ponent am ong th em , has raised great con cern of
experts and teach ers. A s for the E nglish reading teach ing in sen ior h igh school,
how ever, trad itional teach ing m ethod still leaves great im pact. M ost reading class
rem ain s to b e teach er-centered, w h ich m ake the students lose interest in reading and
leads to low reading com petence. A s a resu lt,they lack th e desire of participating in
classroom activ ities. In order to im prov e th e situation , th e author th ink s that th e top
priority is to find an approach to im prove reading teach ing.
T he E du cation D epartm ent, therefore, declares adopting the teach ing m odel of
T B LT (T ask-based L anguage T each ing) in E nglish teach ing in sen ior schoo l on th e
C urricu lum R eform . Som e research es have already been done on the app lication of
T B LT in reading class. T hrough the analysis of tw o particu lar reading classes, th is
pap er aim s to dem on strate w hat k in ds of com ponents, task typ es, prin cip les and
