Based on co - integration analysis , this paper took an empirical study on the relations among financial devel opment , urbanization and income differential between urban and rural area in China from 1978 to 2004 . The result indicats that there is a long - term equilibrium between the scale and efficiency of finance development and income differential between urban and rural area . It also proves that political factors have a marked effect on income differential .
