1702 ChinMedJ2014：127r9 Originalarticle Chhaarraacctteerriissttiiccssofo,DpttiiccddiiSsCcpoaarraammeettersaanndiittssaassssoocciiaattii~oni’nnormlaall Chinesepopulation：theHandanEyeStudy ZhangQing，LiSizhen，LiangYuanbo，WangFenghua，ChenWeiweiandWangNingli Keywords：opticdisc；primaryopen—angleglaucoma；myopia Background Assessmentoftheopticdiscandretinalnervefiberlayer(RNFL)isessentialforlhediagnosisand monitoringofglaucoma．Knowledgeofnormalopticdisctopographyprovidesabenchmarkforevaluatingglaucomatous pathologicchanges，especiallyin itsearlystages．Thepurposeofthisstudywastoevaluatethecharacteristicsand correlationfactorsoftheopticdiscparametersusingtheHeidelbergRetinaTomographII(HRTII)inalargesampleof normaleyesofadultChinesesubjects． Methods Discdatawereobtainedfr0m6830subjectsaged30yearsfromtheHandanEyeStudy~Allparticipants underwentcomprehensiveeyeexaminationsandphysicalexaminations．Theassociationsofgender,age，bodymass index．bloodpressure，waist-to-hipratio；refractiveerror,intraocularpressure，axiallength，anddiscareawereassessed usingsimpleandmultipleregressionanalysis．ThecorrelationbetweenHRT IIparameterswasevaluated． ResultsOfthe7557eligiblesubjects，6830tookpartinthestudy(90．4％responserate)and2633normaleyeswith good．qualityHRTIIimageswereselected．Themeandiscareawas2．28mm (standarddeviation(SD)0．43)andmean neuralrimareawas1．8Omm (SDO．29)．Inmultipleregressionanalysis，opticdiscareasignificantlycorrelatedwithage， gender，andaxiaIlength(P0．001)．Allopticdiscparametersshowedasignificantcorrelationwithdiscarea(0．054r 0．736，PO．01)．TheassociationbewteenmeanRNFLthicknessandrimareaisstatisticallysignificantbutnotstrong fregressionlinearequation：rimarea=1．42xmeanRNFLthickness+1．32mm ，P0．001： =O．070)．TheglobalRNFL cross．sectionalareawassignificantlyassociatedwithglobalrim area(regressionlinearequation：rim ar
