7 DAY DIET DIARY Name: ______________________________________ Date when diary started: _____________________ Date when diary completed: _____________________ Diet diary explained An analysis of your diet will help us when looking at the results of your fitness testing, body composition and sporting performance. Nutritional intake is widely known to be a crucial factor in athletic performance, so it is important that we look at your dietary intake before, during and after training and competition to maximise and sustain your performance over the season. In order for this diary to be accurate, we need you to keep a careful record of everything which you eat and drink for a period of seven days. In addition to this, please provide details of how often you are training / competing at both club and county level or recreationally. Remember to include information regarding the duration and intensity (low/moderate/high) of training sessions as this will alter your nutritional requirements. If you are experiencing any specific problems such as tiredness before or after training /repetitive injury/ recurrent colds or infections please include these details. On completion of this diary the information collected will be analysed for nutritional content including: total energy and fat intake, as well as vitamin and mineral status (related to immune function). Please note that the information which you provide in this diary is totally confidential, and will only be read by the Nutritionist involved with the project (Dr. Andrea McNeilly, University of Ulster). You do not have to weigh your food, but instead record an estimate of the portion size using either standard household measures (tablespoons, teaspoons, small bowls, cups etc.) or by using the information listed on the back of all food and drink products. For example one strawberry Muller Fruit Corner, one mars bar (54g) or half a 300 g packet of egg noodles. The more information you provide, the better your analysi
