This technology is of great importance in a variety of areas, such as measuring and modeling, virtual reality, reconstruction of archaeological fragments and medical image registration. In computer aided fractured solid restoration, fragment automatic reassembly is reassembling unknowing broken objects from a large collection of irregular fragments using matching technique and computer assistance. It was impossible if there were no computers to assist in reassembling these tens of thousands of randomly shaped and featureless fragments. It requires that using surface matching technique to recognize adjacent fragments. Fragment matching is one key technique of fragment automatic reassembly. This paper focuses on the research of 3D(three dimensional) irregular fragment complementary shape matching and 3D fragment reassembling and using surface complementary shape matching technique to resolve fragment matching and reassembling.
