On the Translation of The Coursebook on Western Economics 　　【摘要】The study of the translation of the economic textbooks is mainly introduced in this paper， which is not such regular research content in the academic field at present. First the brief introduction is given to the translation of economic textbooks； what comes next is some certain problems in the translation； at last， this paper has offered several methods to promote the quality of translation textbooks. 　　【关键词】economic textbooks translation errors translation ways 　　1.Introduction 　　To begin with， the definition of translation textbooks is worthwhile to be given a definition， which is a purposeful dynamic translated system based on the translating the source language into the target language. Although there possibly be the cultural differences between target language and source language. It is known that textbooks are the materials worked as the bridge between the teachers and the students and are also the fatal intermediary of the spread of the teaching information that directly reflects the qualities of the education. 　　2. Current situation and problems of economic textbooks translation 　　2.1 Characteristics 　　As the development of the translation of the economics textbooks all this years， some symbolic characteristics remain the same. Translation criterion “faithfulness， expressiveness and elegance” has widely been accepted by translators and also has significance in guiding the translation of textbooks on economics. These characteristics are： 1） Accuracy. 2） Appropriateness. 3） Timeliness. 4） Readability. 　　2.2 Problems 　　2.2.1 Words failing to express the meanings 　　This phenomenon mainly resulted from the fact that the translators translate word-for-word. As a consequence of it， lots of Chinese consumers don’t know that shark fin soup contains shark， because the translation literally means， “fish wing soup”. In the textbook， Market Management， “gift certificate” is translated into “礼品证书”，
