Several DNA based cryptographic algorithms are proposed for encryption, decryption and authentication, etc. The first and foremost step of DNA based encryption is DNA encoding of plaintext. The main limitation of DNA encoding is the absence of effective, randomized, dynamic, secure DNA Encoding technique for DNA encoding of plaintext. To overcome this limitation, this paper describes a novel DNA encoding algorithm. This encoding algorithm is based on a novel string matrix data structure, for generating the unique DNA sequences that can be used to encode plain text (comprising of alphabets, numbers and special characters) as DNA sequences.
