Earth Science Fr ontiers , 2 8, 15(6) : 177-184 Abstract: T he paper studies the physicochemical characteristics, nutritions and the microbial communit y diver- sity of sediment core samples in the T aihu Lake with fumi ation-di estion and P CR-DGGE analysis. The re- sult s indicated that the w ater-sediment interface w as in a stat e of mild reduct ion. Below the surface of sedi- ments, Eh decreased rapidly with t he increase in depth, and it is under t he anaerobic condition except the top 81 0 cm layer of the sediment; in the depth ran in from 151 0 t o 221 5 cm, the Eh value is basically stable.
