Clinical Research of Combination LCP and Autogenous Bone Graft Treatment for Femoral Shaft Dystrophic and Atrophic Nonunion Speciality: Orthopedics of TCM Author: Li Ka Tutor: Prof.Wang Mingxi Abstract Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of combination Locking Compression Plate (LCP) and autogenous bone graft treatment for femoral shaft dystrophic and atrophic nonunion and provide the basis for clinical application. Methods: In this study, cases are from the orthopedic ward of Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and selected among the patients of the femoral shaft dystrophic and atrophic nonunion with a total of 40 cases with LCP combination of autogenous bone graft treatment in May 2010 to December 2011. 22 cases were male, female 18 cases; the oldest 66 years old, minimum 28 years old, average age of 49.73 years old; dystrophic nonunion in 18 cases, atrophic nonunion in 22 cases. All patients were followed up after treatment and evaluated according to bone healing and lower limb function after 9 months and 12 months postoperatively, in order to gain the results of treatment. Results: According to bone healing, after 9 months postoperatively, excellent 22 cases, good 11 cases, fair 3 cases, poor 4 cases, excellent or good rate to 82.50% ；after 12 months postoperatively, excellent 24 cases, good 11 cases, fair 3 cases and poor 2 cases, excellent or good rate to 87.50%; the treatment results of dystrophic and atrophic nonunion are not statistically significant different.
