Write a short biography of an older member of your family. My grandfathers name was George William Peterson. He was born in 1922. He lived in a small village in Oxfordshire, where his father was the village butcher. He was the second of three sons. He went to the village primary school, then to grammar school in the nearest big town. When he was 17, World War II started, and so he joined the army. He trained in England before going off to fight in France, and later in North Africa. He was very lucky during the war, because he was never wounded or caught by the enemy. In 1945, he was 23 years old and thought that he was too old to go to university, so he joined a company of lawyers Model answer: as a clerk. He attended evening classes in law, and after a few years of study he gained a diploma. When he was 25 years old he met my grandmother at a dance and a year later they got married. She worked as a primary school teacher in the town. In 1950 my father was born, followed by my aunt in 1952. My grandfather retired in 1987. All his life, he was interested in birds. He spent many of his holidays and weekends on birdwatching trips. He travelled to other countries as well as all round Britain to watch birds. He was a very friendly man whom everybody liked. He always had good stories and jokes to tell, and he was patient with me and my brother when we went birdwatching. I was very sad when he died in 2005. Imagine a voyage you would like to make to another part of the world. Work in small groups. Choose where you would like to go. Say why you want to go there and how you would travel.
