Abstract College students’sociai practice has gained great development through twenty years’practice since 1 980s，As a kind of educational form，college social practice plays an important role in ideological and political education to university students．It is also an effective method of improving students’comprehensive quality and promoting their healthy developmem．Nowadays，more and more universities carry on college students’sociai practice in order to improve students’ability to adapt to society．Meanwhile，students can know more about society and countl，,and enhance the ability to serve the society with their knowledge．Mr．Jiang Zemin told students to compromise knowledge and practice actively and put forward the new demand to university about ways to cdtivme talents on centuriai anniversary of Beijing University．Therefore，it is one of the most important tasks for universities to develop social practice． At present，there are still many problems to be solved on this point,especially the problems on the reaiization and practice of social activities which restricts its development and effect．So，it is very important for the development of social practice in depth and width to find out effective ways to solve these problems． This paper illustrates the importance and influence of college students’social practice through analysis of its characteristics，meaning，history and tendency．Besides， it also analyzes the problems existing in the practice as follows：the limitation to form， unitary form and content of activities，the shortage of system，capital and bases of practice．This paper also analyzes the main reasons of these problems：shortage of realization of social practice，necessary guidance and scientific management system． On the basis of this research，the paper discusses strategies towards these problems： improving realization，enhancing organization，innovating content,exerting students’ main body roles，strengthening management system，and striving for social support． Key wor
