Conclusion 19 Works Cited 20 A Study on the Realization of Reading Objectives stated in New English Curriculum for Senior School:A Case Study of Senior One in Xiaoshan No. 5 Senior School Abstract: This paper tends to study the implementation of reading skills training required by New English Curriculum for Senior School in senior high school and find out problems with the realization of objectives stated in it. According to data collected from classroom observations, investigation through surveys and the analysis of teaching plans, the researcher analyzes the current situation and concludes that there are some problems with the implementation of reading skills training in classroom, which includes the lack of teachers’ understanding of the reading objectives in New English Curriculum for Senior School, of the balance among the training of different skills and of the variety of activities to guarantee students’ prominent position in class. Thus, it is suggested that formal training and researches be provided for teachers, that teachers work out proper teaching plans for each semester, each module, each unit and each lesson, and that teachers should organize more communicative tasks.
