Abstract The populace’S cultivation，or the quality of a naton，has a great influence on the prosperity of the nation，and it is also the fundation for the country and the nation getting sustainable development．Gepgraphy literacy is one of the important components of the populace’S cultivation．The education of Geography is necessary to serve the cultivating citizens full of vigor and responsibility both for the present and future，”The Full-time Compulsory Education Geography Curriculum Standard (Experimental Version)and High School Geography Curriculum Standard (Experimental Version)by the State Ministry of Education also regard the gepgraphy literacy as the central or core concept．For the students majoring in tourism studying in tourism vocational school，their rich knowledge and good litercy in Geography will help them improve the capacity of observation and competitiveness in society,and adapt themselves to the present heated employment environment more quickly after their grtaduation． The article chiefly deals the study of cultivating students’geography literacy through geography curriculum in China’S tourism vocational schools，and the analysis of current situation of cultivating students’geography literacy through this course’S teaching．The article also makes a careful and serious analysis of the problems remaining in the course for students’geography literacy cultivating in respects of teaching material，teacher and teaching methods．This paper also deals how to optimize the classroom teaching modes of geography by connecting closely the knowledge characteristics of geography and changing the traditional teaching methods on the basis of making full use of the course’S features，and apply the modem education technique to the geography teaching in tourism vocational schools，and therefore make the curriculum of geography meet the reality of students’life and the characteristics in their physical and mental development．The author hopes in the paper that lecturing of geog
