ABSTRACT With the development of urban economy，the iflcrease of urban population and the improvement of people’S living slandard．the water demand from every aspect has been steadily on the lnerease and urban water supply has become a“bottle—neck” problem which restricts the continuous development of urban social economy Therefore，a scientifically and properly worked—out program on the development of urban water supply is of an undoubtedly important strategic significance to the solution oI’the contradiction between water supply and water demand．to the promotion of the continuous、healthy and steady development of urban social economy and to the unceasing improvement of people’S living standard Starting from expounding the characters of our national water resource and the main problems urban water supply is faced with，the article firstly states the important significance of the study on urban water supply development plan，and then through the introduction and analysis on the development of social economy and the situation of available water resource of Handan city．on the basis of the detailed investigation and research，systematically assesses the present situation of water resource exploitation and utilization，presents the main urban water supply problems which need to be urgently solved．Concerning the water resource demand in the future urban development，the article forecasts the household water demand amount and industry water demand amount of Handan city respectively，by using Gomperze curve model and nonlinear regression model．Based on the previous analyzed conclusion and the forecasted results．the article finally presents the short—term and mid—term programmed plan，long-term strategic program conception of urban water supply and the administrative countermeasure during the program implementation．The study of the article has certain reference value and significance for solving the contradiction between water supply and water demand in Handan city． Key words：Urban w
