ABSTRACT In 1 988，by the adVice of Jingtao Hu，Bij ie experimental area of Guizhou proVince was set up according to the authorization f的m the state department of China． The pilot sustainable deVelopment has been ca玎ied out for almost twen妙years in Bijie experimental area，Guizhou proVince．Around a topic on the“population，area， ci够卸d count叫，food supplies，zoolog)，”，many researches haVe been implemented in order to promote the Bijie experimental area tuming into the model on the scienti行c view of development．It demonStrates that the scient讯c decision-making on the B．j ie experimentaI area is accordant with the central poIicy that implementing scient讯c development view and sustainable deVelopment strategy． The eValuation on the sustainable development mode jn Bij ie area will proVide us with experience for the implement of‘‘China’s Agenda 2 1”and future sustainable deVelopment in count拶wide area in the coming deVelopment period． This thesis appIies the system analysis method and the exemplar confimatjon method to study the pilot sustainable deVelopment appraisal system in Bijie experimental area．The appraisal system indicates that population，resource and environment are the basic elements in the sustainable deVelopment，and the social system， economy， 卸d science and technology are the important factors in the realization of the sustainable deVelopment．Although the sustainable deVelopment mode in Bijie area has a lot of successful experience，it has some drawbacks in social hannonic mechanism，method of evaluation，theoretic research，etc．Therefore，it is necessary to establish more e街cient work system for sustainable deVelopment，utilize more social resources to combine with goVemment and finance to promote the e伍ciency and success in the sustainable development in new area．Meanwhile，it is necessa拶to summarize some fhitful，practical and worth to promote experience f．rom the practice of sustainable deVeIopment in Bijie area．This experience w订l help soIVe the problems in the susta
