Purpose and Significance With the development of the society, cross-cultural communication has become more and more important. The Chinese zodiac as an old folk culture event of China, occupies an important position in Chinese traditional culture. Twelve Chinese zodiac as a representative of the age and seasons greeting is the sustenance of Chinese nations praises to twelve animals and their longing for a better life. However, there are some misunderstandings of Chinese zodiac culture in the Sino-Western cultural exchange because of the mistranslation or not conveying accurately in those English translation works. Therefore, we must profoundly analyze the implication of Chinese zodiac, choose appropriate translation strategies between Chinese and western culture, in order to better guide the spread of Chinese culture. At the same time, the translation should not only consider the characteristics of the animal vocabulary, but also to convey the cultural meaning contained behind the words. Only in this way can we both preserve the cultural charm and cater to the Western laws of cognition, so that they willingly understand, accept our our Chinese zodiac culture, thus promoting the Chinese culture to the world, to flourish.
