The “Sino-European Energy Efficient Building Training Research Center” The history The “Sino-European Energy Efficient Building Training Research Center” was officially established in April 2011 in Tongji University which acts as main implementing partner in China of the EU-funded SWITCH-Asia Project “Train the Trainers”. The Center builds upon the previous Tongji University’s External Thermal Insulation Application Training Center (founded in 2006) and serves as headquarters for all training and research activities undertaken by the SWITCH-Asia Project in East China. Officially inaugurated by EU Ambassador Markus Ederer and Tongji University Executive Vice President Chen Xiaolong, the Center received the visit of many high-level European officials, including Günther Oettinger (European Union Commissioner for Energy), Koos Richelle (Director General of EuropeAid Co-operation Office) and William Hanna (Head of Unit in the EuropeAid Cooperation Office). Mission The “Sino-European Energy Efficient Building Training Research Center” undertakes training courses and research projects on energy efficiency in buildings (EEB) with the aim of: raising awareness about sustainable construction (including materials, applications and techniques) training professionals about energy-efficient construction systems producing innovative best-practices that integrate European know-how and China’s specificities testing, simulating and measuring energy-saving properties of new materials contributing to formulation of policies, standards and regulations on energy-efficiency.
