Stay in touch  Message from the Lord Mayor Brisbane is rapidly emerging as a diverse and innovative global city. It is my aim that by positioning our city on the world stage it will provide economic opportunities to deliver ongoing commercial success. The challenge is to continue to diversify and strengthen Brisbane by supporting business growth and economic development. Brisbane City Council has developed partnerships with Brisbane’s planning, design, development and community engagement industries to help guide the future as a New World City. The Urban Futures Brisbane (UFB) Board, made up of some of the best minds in the business, was established to help identify and take advantage of opportunities that encourage business innovation, investment and provide a world-class lifestyle. The UFB Board provides strategic and expert advice to Council on a range of planning projects across the city. The UFB Board has been a key contributor to the draft new City Plan, which strikes a balance between encouraging our city’s continued growth and protecting essential characteristics and the lifestyle that residents and visitors appreciate. Working in partnership with industry, Council is better positioned to identify opportunities and further support Brisbane’s successful development. I thank the UFB Board and committee members for their dedication and direction in securing long-term economic growth for Australia’s New World City.
