《科技英语阅读》课程标准 第一部分 前 言 一、课程性质和任务 《科技英语阅读》是应用英语专业的一门必修课，是考查课。 其研究的主要内容是:’t Love It, Leave It 学时：2学时 1.学习目标 （1） 了解信息技术领域的常用词汇 例 cyberspace（n.电脑空间；信息空间；网络空间）moderator（n. 调节器） real estate (n. 房地产) 理解网络空间和现实生活的最主要区别 例 In cyberspace, communities are chosen by the users, not forced by terrestrial environments. If the users don’t like the rules of a community, they can just sign off. 知道网络空间中需要那种管理。 例 They need a local government of their own community. ( 4) 了解科技英语的主要特点 例 被动语态多、名词多、非谓语动词多、后置定语多、长句子多、祈使句多 2. 实践活动建议 上网阅读以“科技英语”为关键词的文章，进行分析总结，最后找出一些信息技术方面的科技术语。 Unit 2 Meteorology Passage B The Greenhouse Effect 学时：2学时 1.学习目标 ( 1 ) 掌握关于温室效应的科技词汇。 例 greenhouse effect （n. 温室效应) global warming （n. 全球变暖；The increase in the average temperature of the atmosphere, oceans, and landmasses of Earth. The planet has warmed (and cooled) many times during the 4.65 billion years of its history. At present Earth appears to be facing a rapid warming, which most scientists believe results, at least in part, from human activities. The chief cause of this warming is thought to be the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas, which releases into the atmosphere carbon dioxide and other substances known as greenhouse gases. As the atmosphere becomes richer in these gases, it becomes a better insulator, retaining more of the heat provided to the planet by the Sun.） (2)理解全球变暖对人类的影响 例 ①If global warming continues to raise the Earth’s atmospheric temperatures, the melting of the polar ice caps could be speeding. This would cause horrific devastation to many parts of the world. ②There would be floods, record heat waves, and destruction of aquatic life, scorched forests and disappearing species. ②If global warming retains unattended, Earth’s ecosystems and the life that depends on them will be destroyed.
