Everything is severe except the “tapping” and “swipper”. 3. The rhythm 18 six-line stanzas, the first five lines being trochaic octameter (八音步扬抑格), and the sixth line a trochaic tetrameter (四音步扬抑格). The rhythm scheme is abcbbb e.g. ?Once u pon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary, In every stanza, the ‘B’ lines rhyme with the word ‘nevermore’ and are catalectic(音部不完全的), placing extra emphasis on the final syllable.
